What is the best car?
According to a popular car magazine, the best midsize sedan in 2016 is the Mazda6. From the perspective of a leading consumer testing service, the best midsize sedan in 2016 is the Toyota Camry.
If money were no object, you might own a sports car for Sunday drives, a high mileage compact car for commuting, a pickup truck for completing weekend projects, and all-wheel-drive SUV for snowy winter days and a large luxury car for highway drives and going to special events. However most of us have to make do with one vehicle for all these functions, or perhaps two or three vehicles shared in the family.
There are many opinions about which are the best cars. However, the relevant question is, what is the best car for you? Your individual circumstances will have a major impact on how well a particular car or truck fits its role as your personal transportation choice.
Most of us have to make some compromises in our vehicle selection. The best vehicle for high miles per gallon may not have the winter traction you need, or the ability to haul large objects. The comfortable luxury car that you would like may not be as reliable as some popular sedans. The sports car turns out to be not very practical for most locations in the US, or most tasks that we use vehicles for. Although very practical for having fun!
So how do you balance all of these conflicting emotional and practical considerations? You will have to decide which characteristics are most important in purchasing your vehicle.
How can you decide? It is not easy to choose between attractive alternatives. One way is to list the factors such as safety, economy, comfort and so on that you are concerned about, and rank them in order of importance.
Then you can determine which cars match your criteria. You can test drive these vehicles and rank them again based on the real-world experience. If your top-ranked vehicle is emotionally satisfying to you, you have a winner. If not, you will have to reorder your priorities and search again.

Good luck on your journey from car shopper to car buyer!
